Work Detail Swiss-based marine construction specialist Allseas has won a pipelaying contract on the Malampaya gas field off the coast of Palawan Island in the Philippines. The contract was awarded by the consortium that owns Service Contract 38 which holds the Malampaya deep water gas-to-power project. It consists of Prime Energy Resources Development, UC38, PNOC Exploration, and Prime Oil and Gas. Under the new $180m deal, Allseas will put up the pipeline and umbilicals to connect two new wells to the Malampaya shallow water platform. The wells will be drilled next year and the consortium hopes to deliver new gas from the wells in 2026. Drilling of the new wells and the laying of the connecting pipelines is part of Phase 4 of the Malampaya project which will extend the life of the gas field in line with the recently granted 15-year extension of the contract. The detailed well design will be completed this year and the pipeline design will ensure that it can endure all load stress scenarios. There are plans to drill a third well as part of the 2025 drilling campaign. The well will explore the presence of oil and gas some 15 km from Malampaya. Earlier this year, OneSubsea won a contract for the supply of wellheads, control equipment, and subsea production systems for the drilling program.
