BC Jindal Group, a major player in steel pipe manufacturing, announced its entry into the renewable energy sector with a substantial investment of $2.5 billion. The investment will focus on developing solar equipment manufacturing and establishing 5 gigawatts (GW) of green energy capacity.
The company, which currently operates a 1.2 GW thermal power plant in Angul, Odisha, has launched a new entity, Jindal India Renewable Energy (JIRE), to spearhead its renewable energy initiatives.
JIRE’s mission is to generate 5 GW of power through a combination of solar, wind, hybrid, and firm dispatchable renewable energy sources. This strategic move marks a significant expansion of BC Jindal Group’s portfolio, aligning with the growing global emphasis on sustainable and clean energy solutions. |
