Work Detail |
The project to build Murcia-Almería high-speed rail is carried out according to the schedule, with more than 65% of the works being completed on three sections.
Progress has been made on the unique elements such as Cebollero viaduct on Los Arejos – Níjar section, which is 770 metre long and up to 16.5 metres high over the A-7 motorway.
Near the Cebollero viaduct is another notable structure on this same section, the Tejar viaduct, with a length of 138 metres.
Adif AV is making progress on the construction of the Murcia-Almería high-speed rail wichi will be 200 km long and will require an investment of EUR 3.5 billion and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Currently, all the sections of the line’s platform are finished or under construction and the first electrification works are underway, while progress is being made on the projects to assemble the tracks, the construction of the Librilla assembly base and the deployment of the line’s signalling and communications systems.
In the province of Almería, the three sections under construction comprise the 25.7 km line between Pulpí and Vera covering the construction of ten viaducts which are under construction. The beams have recently been placed in Jatico and the process is underway in Canalejas. On the 17.8 km section between Los Arejos and Níjar, six of its eleven viaducts are completed. In Los Feos the sixth launching phase is already being prepared and progress is being made on the erection of piers and abutments in Lucainena and Cebollero. On the 25.5 km Níjar – Río Andarax section, in addition to the construction of the Viator tunnel, the Andarax River viaduct is in the construction phase of the deck.
The route is completed by the 27.8 km Vera – Los Arejos, 1.6 km Río Andarax – El Puche and the first integration section in Almería (1.9 km) sections, with the platform completed in all of them.
The second phase of the integration project in the capital of Almería is also progressing, with the excavation of screens to channel the high-speed line underground already underway. And, since July 10, the provisional intermodal station has also been in operation, to which the rail and bus transport services have been moved to facilitate the development of the works.
Murcia-Almería high-speed rail, a strategic axis of the Mediterranean Corridor, will integrate Almería into the high speed network, through the corridor to Levante, and into the European networks, favouring the structuring and cohesion of territories. In addition, it will provide passengers with new, more efficient, sustainable, intermodal stations adapted to the new mobility. |
