Work Detail Recently, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated 19 projects with an investment of ?17,616 crore and laid the foundation for 28 additional projects valued at ?51,157 crore. These initiatives are expected to generate 106,803 jobs across various industries including textiles, food processing, and pharmaceuticals. At the Investment Conclave 2024, an MoU was signed between Mahesh Kohli of Greenko and V Vishnu, MD and CEO of Guidance Tamil Nadu. Greenko will invest ?20,120 crore to develop integrated closed-loop pump storage systems in three districts, creating 1,500 jobs. Chief Minister Stalin highlighted that in the past three years, nearly ?9.74 lakh crore has been invested in Tamil Nadu, providing direct and indirect employment to about 31 lakh people. He encouraged investors to attract more businesses to the state, calling them "business ambassadors." Industries Minister TRB Rajaa emphasized that these projects are key to realizing the Chief Minister’s vision of a $1 trillion economy by 2030. Among the notable projects, the foundation stone was laid for SembCorp’s green hydrogen project in Thoothukudi, positioning Tamil Nadu as the first state in India to commercialize hydrogen production. The expansion of Coimbatore airport was also discussed, with recent land acquisitions completed. Tidco and Tata Technologies are collaborating to establish the Tamil Nadu Engineering and Innovation Centre (TN Engine) at Anna University, with an investment of ?400 crore. Saint Gobains CEO for Asia-Pacific, B Santhanam, reflected on the companys longstanding relationship with Tamil Nadu, noting a new investment of ?2,500 crore at Oragadam, potentially doubling in future investments. Saint Gobain’s Tamil Nadu operations represent over 60% of its Indian investment, praised for its transparency and predictability. SembCorp’s Vipul Thuli highlighted Tamil Nadu’s pioneering role in wind energy and its new venture into green hydrogen, with a plant being set up in Thoothukudi in collaboration with international partners.
