Mayor Mauricio Davico showed Governor Rogelio Frigerio the plan for the pipeline replacement project, which will increase the flow of water to the southern neighborhoods, at the corner of Aguado and Parque Avenue.
The mayor explained that "a 15-centimeter pipe will be replaced by a 50-centimeter one that runs from the tip of Corsódromo, reaches Goldaracena and joins the network on Lavalle Street to Urquiza. It is 1,320 meters long and will have a very important impact on the network and the neighbors will notice a substantial improvement in water pressure."
Davico said that it will reach "the entire southern part of the city, such as the neighborhoods of Villa María, Yapeyú, San Cayetano, Pueblo Nuevo, Trinidad and Zabalet. Approximately 20,000 to 25,000 residents will benefit from better pressure, which is already complicated in the summer, and even more so during the summer."
The investment will be undertaken by "the Province and will require 800 million pesos and the work will begin on September 1st and will take at least 5 months." He also anticipated that it will bring inconveniences such as road closures and broken asphalt because it is a pipe that runs through the middle of the street. "The Hornus company will do the work, because it is a project awarded years ago that never moved forward, and we hope that they finish it as quickly as possible so as not to affect the lives of some neighbors, although it is necessary to improve the quality of life of many others."
On the other hand, Mayor Davico explained that he was at the National Water Works and Sanitation Authority (ENOHSA) a few days ago, where he proposed some projects for the city and discussed the expansion of the Water Treatment Plant. In this regard, he commented that "the big problem we have is in the distribution, not in the generation of water. We had several wells that were not used because the corresponding maintenance was lacking and we are reactivating them, in addition to the fact that we have a good intake and a good reception. The expansion of the Plata is important but first we have to improve the distribution."
The project involves the installation of a network of 500 mm diameter PVC pipes (class 6) extending from the north to the south of the city, with the following layout:
• North to South section: The line begins on Lavalle Street, starting at Urquiza Street, where it connects to an existing 700 mm diameter pipeline. From there, it continues south to Goldaracena Street.
• West to East section: From Goldaracena Street, the pipeline continues east to Aguado Street.
• North to South section: Finally, from Aguado Street, the line continues south along Av. Sarmiento, where three connections are made with 150 mm diameter pipelines.
