Work Detail Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) is on track to restore power to nearly all customers affected by Hurricane Debby by the end of the day. As of 2 p.m., FPL crews have restored electricity to approximately 250,000 customers across 34 counties. The company’s smart grid technology played a key role in preventing nearly 85,000 outages. Hurricane Debby caused significant flooding, strong winds, and storm surges in southwest and north Florida. FPL’s restoration efforts involved a dedicated workforce of employees, contractors, and out-of-state assistance, all working tirelessly to restore power to impacted customers. FPL emphasizes that safety remains the top priority. Debby left weakened trees, damaged vegetation, and significant flooding along its path. Customers are urged to stay vigilant, as hazardous conditions may persist even after the storm has passed. With Florida entering the peak of hurricane season, FPL encourages residents to review their storm preparation plans and access safety tips at FPL.com/Storm. FPL President and CEO Armando Pimentel stated, “Storms are disruptive to our customers and our communities. At FPL, we are committed to safely and quickly restoring a sense of normalcy following any severe weather event. Hurricane Debby reminds us that, as Floridians, we all need to be prepared for whatever may come our way this storm season.”
