They are being installed by 19 water and sewer companies belonging to the Higher Organization of Business Management (OSDE) Water and Sanitation, according to statements made to Granma by the director of water, sewer and storm drainage of the entity, Annalie Labrada Gómez.
The installation of 1,312 water pumping units powered by a photovoltaic power of 10 kW each is being developed in different Cuban provinces.
This was reported to Granma, the official organ of the Cuban Communist Party, by the director of the states Water, Sewerage and Storm Drainage Department, Annalie Labrada Gómez, who added that the project includes the construction of three lots in consecutive years.
The first batch, which began in 2023, is behind schedule - it is said - since to date 658 of the 722 devices have been installed, destined for the provinces of Pinar del Río, Artemisa, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spíritus, Ciego de Ávila, Holguín and Las Tunas.
The second batch includes 74 for Villa Clara and 70 for Aguas Turquino, in Santiago de Cuba, of which 14 are already in operation, with the aim of having them operational by the end of this year.
By 2025, 446 units are expected to be installed, and the beneficiaries will be the clients of the water companies of Havana, Mayabeque, Aguas del Oeste (also from Mayabeque), Varadero, Camagüey; Guardalavaca, in Holguín, Granma, Santiago de Cuba, Guantánamo, and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, Labrada Gómez added.
According to Granma, there are around 3,600 pumping units of different capacities on the island. |
