Work Detail |
The Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, recently reviewed the performance of Power Distribution Companies and Power Departments across the country. During the review, special attention was given to the quality and reliability of power supply in the National Capital Region, specifically the rapidly growing cities of Gurugram and Faridabad.
To meet the increasing power demand, which has been growing at an annual rate of 8-10% in these cities, the Ministry of Power, guided by the Union Minister, has approved projects worth Rs. 3,600 crore. This approval came during an Inter-ministerial Monitoring Committee meeting and is aimed at modernizing and upgrading the power distribution infrastructure in Gurugram and Faridabad districts under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme.
These projects will benefit consumers in areas such as Manesar and Badshahpur in Gurugram, as well as Old Faridabad, NIT, Ballabhgarh, and Greater Faridabad in Faridabad district. The scope of work includes the setup of 20 new Gas Insulated Substations (12 in Faridabad and 8 in Gurugram), laying 3,500 km of underground cabling, commissioning approximately 5,000 new Distribution Transformers/Compact Substations, and bifurcating 486 feeders into 821 feeders.
Automation of the network is also a key component of the project, which will significantly enhance the ability to detect and restore power faults promptly. This modernization will not only improve the quality and reliability of power supply but will also make Faridabad and Gurugram future-ready. Additionally, the underground cabling work will enhance citizen safety and improve the overall aesthetics of congested areas.
With these enhancements, the power infrastructure in Gurugram and Faridabad is set to see a substantial improvement, ensuring a reliable and quality electricity supply for the growing demands of these urban centers. |
