Cypress Creek Renewables, a prominent solar and storage developer, recently hosted a tour and roundtable discussion with Dr. Heather Boushey, Chief Economist for the Invest in America Cabinet at the White House. The event took place at the company’s national solar and storage control center located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The discussions focused on the challenges and opportunities for the growth of renewable energy, emphasizing the importance of equipping the next generation of workers with the technical skills needed to manage advanced energy systems.
Dr. Boushey was joined by several notable local leaders, including North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, Deputy Secretary of State Tim Crowley, Durham Mayor Leonardo Williams, Morrisville Mayor TJ Cawley, and Raleigh City Councilwoman Stormie Forte. Together with the Cypress Creek team, they toured the Cypress Creek Control Center (C4), which has been operational since 2018. The C4 is a state-of-the-art facility that monitors nearly 500 solar and storage sites across 24 states, representing almost 5 gigawatts of energy assets. The center operates 24/7, providing real-time monitoring of performance, output, and weather conditions, and coordinates response efforts during major weather events.
Brian Case, Executive Vice President of Cypress Creek Solutions, highlighted the significance of the energy transition beyond just the companies directly involved. He expressed the company’s appreciation for the opportunity to engage with the President’s Economic Advisory Council, emphasizing the importance of continued support from the administration and local leaders in driving the energy transition and maintaining the U.S. as a global energy leader.
Dr. Heather Boushey underscored the administration’s commitment to economic growth through historic legislation like the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the CHIPS and Science Act. She praised local innovation efforts like those at Cypress Creek for expanding the economy’s capacity to create jobs and strengthen high-growth industries.

Alex Darden, EQT Partner and Head of Infrastructure for the Americas, lauded Cypress Creek’s work at the C4 as a vital step in accelerating the energy transition and ensuring infrastructure readiness for the future energy system. He emphasized the importance of training skilled professionals to achieve a greener future and reaffirmed EQT’s commitment to supporting Cypress Creek’s mission.
The Cypress Creek Control Center is one of the few control centers in the U.S. operated by a solar and storage company that complies with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) – Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards. When it opened in 2018, the center received bipartisan support from North Carolina’s congressional delegation, who recognized its potential to contribute to America’s shift towards renewable energy. |
