The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced commencing the implementation of a program to develop ring roads and main roads in Riyadh city.
It awarded four projects, which include the first group of the program, at a value exceeding SAR 13 billion.
This program aims to develop the main and ring road axes, enhance the transportation system in the city, activate the connection between its parts, and prepare it to be a major center for providing sustainable transportation and logistics services in the Middle East region, and raise the capital to the leading position it deserves as one of the world’s major cities, in line with the goals of the “Saudi Vision 2030” programs.
The “first group” projects of this program include the following works:
The project to implement the second southern ring road, with a length of 56 kilometers, extending from the new Al-Kharj Road in the east to the Jeddah Road in the west, and includes four lanes for the main road in each direction, and three lanes for the service road in each direction. The road also includes the implementation of 10 main intersections, and the construction of 32 bridges.
A project to implement two bridges parallel to the suspension bridge (Wadi Laban Bridge) and develop the intersection of the Western Ring Road with Jeddah Road, with a length of four kilometers. It includes implementing two bridges parallel to the current bridge (suspension), and constructing four bridges at the intersection of the Western Ring Road with Jeddah Road.
The development project of the western part of (Al-Thumama Road Axis), with a length of six kilometers, extending from King Khalid Road in the west to King Fahd Road in the east.
The Taif Road Extension Project in Laban District to Qiddiya Project, with a length of 16 kilometers, extends from the western end of Taif Road in Laban District east to Qiddiya Project. |
