It is part of the call for proposals for the so-called “Manufacturing and/or assembly of electrolyzers and their components in Chile”, as announced last May.
The Chilean Production Development Corporation (Corfo) has announced the extension of the deadline for the call for proposals entitled “Manufacturing and/or assembly of electrolyzers and their components in Chile”, announced last May, until October 22.
As described at the time, this is the second phase of an initiative that follows the one announced in June of last year, when the Request for Information (RFI) process for electrolyzers was completed, one of whose objectives was to identify companies interested in manufacturing and/or assembling these devices.
At that time, nine proposals for electrolyzer factories were received .
The expected result is estimated to be the development, construction and commissioning of a manufacturing and/or assembly plant for electrolysers and their components in Chile, capable of supplying equipment to the new national industry of 12,800 MW by 2030.
Corfos coverage for this initiative reaches 60% of co-financing of up to 10 million dollars per project, with the aim of installing the first factories for electrolysers and their components within a period of 5 years.
In a statement, it is explained that by the first year of operation, "it is expected that companies will have completed feasibility studies, as well as the identification of supply chains and potential clients, and in a second phase, their entry into the evaluation system and the engineering studies."
"Within 5 years - the information continues - the first factories should be producing electrolyzers in Chile."
In this regard, it is cited that a study commissioned by the Ministry of Energy, with the support of the IDB to the consulting firm LBST of Germany, estimates that in a conservative scenario approximately 12,800 MW of electrolysis capacity will be installed between the regions of Antofagasta and Magallanes by 2030. |
