The Government of the City of Buenos Aires, through the Ministry of Health, has taken a significant step in public health care by launching a public tender for the expansion of the Emergency Room at the Dr. Ignacio Pirovano General Acute Hospital, located at Monroe 3555, a health landmark in Commune 12 and its surroundings. This work, with an initial budget of $2,201,494,626.17, promises to improve the care and comfort of patients at this flagship health center.
Positive Impact on Comuna 12
Pirovano Hospital is the main health center for more than 500,000 people in Comuna 12 and surrounding areas. However, increased demand from both local residents and those arriving from neighboring municipalities in Greater Buenos Aires has put considerable pressure on the Guard, resulting in long wait times and limited care. This expansion promises to alleviate this situation, providing a more comfortable and efficient environment for all those seeking urgent medical care.
The expansion of the Pirovano Hospital Emergency Room has been a recurring request by the Advisory Council in its Health Commission, as well as a proposal by several community members during election campaigns. This project not only seeks to solve immediate capacity problems, but also to establish a higher standard for medical care. It is expected that, if the deadlines are met, the work will be completed by the middle of next year, which would pave the way towards a more efficient and accessible health system for all.
