A house located in the city of Junín, province of Buenos Aires, designed and built by Argentines, has been recognized with one of the most important international awards in the field of luxury properties. This is Casa Orilla, a project by the Leone Loray architectural studio, which received recognition in the category “Best Luxury Single Residence” by the Luxury Lifestyle Awards. The Luxury Lifestyle Awards is a global award based in New York that recognizes projects in a wide range of industries around the world: from hotels to real estate developers, architects and designers. The jury in charge of evaluating analyzed more than 10,000 properties and services in 400 categories from 60 countries; the result of this work was a list that functions as a directory with the best products and services related to luxury in the world. The Leone Loray studio is made up of a team of 30 professionals, including architects, interior designers, engineers, landscapers and administrators who specialise in developing premium projects tailored to each client: “We don’t use a generic approach, but for us the important thing is to get to know the client and create the house they want. At Casa Orilla we put emphasis on understanding the personality of the owners of the house and reflecting it in the architecture and design,” says Juliana Virla, the studio’s interior design director. They have been in the market for more than 10 years and are working in several countries, including Argentina, the United States, Italy and Uruguay. They started in Canning, but are now expanding to other areas and not only to housing development, but also to gastronomic and commercial projects. Casa Orilla is located in Junín, Province of Buenos Aires, on a property on the outskirts of the city. It was built on a green space, which had pre-existing buildings and totals 530 m² (not taking into account the exterior constructions of pools). “The main premise of the house was the rupture between the division between the interior and the exterior: we sought to enhance nature and bring it into the home. This is where the name of the project, Casa Orilla, comes from, reflecting the boundary between the sea and the sand,” explains Nadia Navarrete, creative project director. To achieve this idea throughout the design, the house is built on a single floor in a longitudinal format, which allows all the spaces to be connected to the exterior and to have a view to one side and the other of the land. Instead of having a central nave, the house is built in two blocks, which have two levels (with a small difference of three steps, but which make up a single floor) that help to distinguish the public part from the private part. In the external area of ??the house, on both facades, you can see a sector of infinity-edge water pools that generates spaciousness and a sensation of something without limits with the environment, “which further affirms that it is a house that lives both from the inside to the outside, as well as from the outside to the inside,” explains Virla and adds: “The water mirrors allow for this continuity, as well as the glass that surrounds the house and generates a cleaner view of the outside.” What is the house like inside? The house has two front views with a gabled roof, which seek to respect and dialogue with the surrounding buildings that marked a previously defined style. A color palette was also chosen that achieved a black shell, surrounded by a series of wooden parasols and stone walls. “The predominant style is oriental, mainly Japanese, which is seen in the clean spaces, without information overload,” says Navarrete, adding: “We chose this style because it allows us to transmit a sense of tranquility and calm, something that the clients of this house were asking us for and was the reason why they were building it.” The house is on one floor, it has a main area where the kitchen, living room and dining room are connected; in the southern part of the building there are the service areas and vehicle accesses; the bedroom area is made up of two large rooms with dressing room and bathroom en suite.
