According to a release, Siruvani has successfully bored a tunnel extending approximately 703 meters, including 51 meters beneath the Cooum River. This section is part of the 12 km underground segment of Corridor 3, which stretches from Kellys to Taramani and is being constructed by Larsen & Toubro Limited.
L&T is deploying a total of eight TBMs for this section of the project. Corridor 3, which spans 45.4 km from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri Sipcot, will include 28 underground stations and 19 elevated stations. Overall, Phase 2 of the Chennai Metro Rail project encompasses a 116.1 km network across three corridors. |
