Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 24x7 Manimajra water supply project in Chandigarh on Sunday. Punjab Governor and Union Territory Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria also attended the event.
The Rs 75 crore project is designed to benefit over one lakh residents in Manimajra, including those in Modern Housing Complex, Shivalik Enclave, Indira Colony, and Shastri Nagar. Part of the Smart City mission, the project aims to minimize water wastage by providing a continuous high-pressure supply, reducing the need for water storage.
Key objectives include augmenting water resources by reducing leakage, implementing smart metering, minimizing reliance on groundwater, and monitoring energy consumption. The project features a 22 km water supply pipeline and two underground water reservoirs, each with a capacity of two million gallons per day. |
