Work Detail ÖBB is announcing maintenance and modernization work between Feldkirch and Buchs this summer. enstein side are also being modernized. Nendeln and Schaan-Vaduz will get longer platforms. In the Nendeln station area, investments are also planned in the track infrastructure and railway technology for modern and safe train operations, such as the construction of a new electronic signal box into which the control of eight railway crossings will be integrated. Both in Liechtenstein and further afield in Switzerland, the renewal and renovation of bridge structures is the focus of the work. These include the renewal of the supporting structures over the large and small Liechtenstein inland canals, corrosion protection for the Buchs Rhine bridge, the new construction of the foreland supporting structure of the Rhine bridge, the Werdenberg inland canal and the three-pillar bridge (flood bridge). In addition, new tracks and switches, the renewal of culverts and cable work are planned. A total of around 100 million euros will be invested in the extensive maintenance and modernization program in 2024 and 2026. Project partners are the state of Vorarlberg, the city of Feldkirch, Liechtenstein and the municipalities of Eschen-Nendeln and Schaan. The construction work will be carried out in sections not only during the day but also at night. The ÖBB tries to keep disruption to residents as low as possible. Nevertheless, due to the nature and extent of the work, nuisance from noise, dust, light and construction site traffic is to be expected. Acoustic warning signals are also required to protect workers. The ÖBB asks for your understanding. Despite the line closure, rail-bound construction vehicles can be expected in the track area at any time. Changes for rail passengers – rail replacement services and diversions From August 10 to September 9, 2024, the railway line between Feldkirch and Buchs will be closed due to the planned work. For local transport between Feldkirch and Buchs, a rail replacement service (SEV) with buses will be set up during this time. The SEV stops will sometimes differ from the train stops. The long-distance trains from/to Zurich will partly be diverted via St. Margrethen, and partly also by bus from Feldkirch to Buchs or Sargans. In Sargans, passengers can change to SBB long-distance trains. The ÖBB asks customers for their understanding of the necessary measures and recommends that they find out about the desired connection in advance. The ÖBB will provide timely information about further construction work in the coming project phases.
