Work Detail PGE has appointed Energoprojekt-Katowice to prepare concept design for the 900MW offshore project PGE Baltica, a company from the PGE Group, has signed an agreement with Energoprojekt-Katowice to prepare a conceptual design for the 900MW Baltica 1 Offshore Wind Farm. This is an essential element of the investment process related to the construction of offshore wind farms, which aims to select the most optimal power evacuation technology. The scope of work includes performing electrical analyses, including power flow in steady and fault states, short-circuit studies and preliminary harmonic surveys. At the same time, cost and reliability analyses will be performed. The resulting documentation will be used for further design work on power evacuation from the Baltica 1 offshore wind farm. The PGE Group Offshore Program assumes the construction of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm by 2030, implemented in two stages - Baltica 2 and Baltica 3, with a total installed capacity of up to 2.5GW. These projects are being implemented together with Orsted. After 2030, the Baltica 1 Wind Farm will join the Groups portfolio. Thanks to acquiring new areas for development in the Baltic Sea, the PGE Group will be able to build more offshore wind farms by 2040. Together with the projects currently being implemented, this will allow it to achieve over 7GW of installed offshore generation capacity. The Baltica 1 project is located approximately 80km from the coastline, at the height of the town of Leba in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The scheme already has, among other things, a location permit and a connection agreement, and the first full year of wind, sea current and wave research behind it. PGE Baltica has started this year to investigate the subsoil for the onshore part of the investment and has signed a contract to perform preliminary geotechnical studies of the seabed and to perform geological studies for the onshore-sea drilling, and has also selected a geotechnical and structural designer for the stage of recognizing the subsoil of the investment and on the route of the export cable.
