Ground has been broken on a $3.7bn hospital extension at UC Davis Health in Sacramento, California.
The 14-storey, 70m-high building was designed by SmithGroup and is being built by McCarthy Building. When complete in 2030, the “California Tower” will have 334 private rooms, two helipads and a range of state-of-the-art medical technology.
The tower, which will be connected to UC Davis’ surgery and emergency services pavilion, will increase the hospital’s gross floor area by 85,000 sq m. |
