Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Private Limited (ARACT), a subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (ARE&M), is set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with electric vehicle manufacturer Ather Energy. Vikramaditya Gourineni, Executive Director of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are proud to join forces with Ather. Together, we will focus on developing market-relevant solutions as India advances towards the indigenisation of electric vehicle technologies.” Tarun Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, noting, “Our commitment has always been to design and build products from scratch in India, with most components sourced domestically. This partnership is a significant step in promoting homegrown cell technology.” Mehta highlighted the benefits of the agreement: “This collaboration will help us optimize costs and provide lithium-ion cells tailored to our specific needs, enhancing our ability to innovate and scale efficiently. Our goal is to support the domestic industry’s growth to meet India’s current and future energy demands.” Under the agreement, Amara Raja will work with Ather to develop and supply advanced chemistry cells, including NMC (nickel manganese cobalt), LFP (lithium iron phosphate), and other lithium-ion cells at their upcoming gigafactory in Divitipally, Telangana. Amara Raja has also recently partnered with Gotion-InoBat-Batteries (GIB) to localize global LFP technology and with Jiangsu Highstar Battery Manufacturing Co for NMC technology, further bolstering its capabilities in the Indian market. |
