Work Detail |
The Province is carrying out and planning various road connectivity works that will enable the development of the regions. Routes 7 and 17 in Añelo are one of the road works that have been restarted. In the South and Central West, tourism connectivity works have been prioritized.
The Province has several road infrastructure projects planned. Last week, Governor Rolando Figueroa held a meeting in Neuquén with authorities from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to advance new road projects for the Province. In addition, in recent days, CAF - Development Bank of Latin America, approved a loan for the execution of four key works.
There are 10 kilometers of asphalt of Route 62 (San Martín de los Andes-Lago Lolog, Route 46 (Cuesta del Rahue), 12 kilometers of Route 60 (Mamuil Malal international pass), at the foot of the Lanín volcano and the continuation of Route 43 from Las Ovejas to Varvarco.
The Provincial Government, based on its commitment to regionalization, is promoting an important public works plan, one of the axes of which is road connectivity, which will allow the development of tourism and the connection between the different regions.
The Chief of Cabinet, Juan Luis Ousset, mentioned that “Neuquén is at a relevant moment, we need to reactivate the works that are important for our Province, we have been working for months from the Government, starting with the new administration, on the prioritization of connectivity works.”
Provincial Route 65, in Villa Traful, is a tourist route that contributes to integrating the Lakes Corridor,
Southern Region
Provincial Route 65 will be paved from National Route 40 to Vila Traful and from there to the Minero River. This is a tourist route that contributes to integrating the Lakes Corridor, in a scenic route through the forests of the Nahuel Huapi National Park. The purpose is to improve accessibility to Villa Traful and integrate it into the Seven Lakes Route. It links the main international tourist centers of the province, Villa La Angostura and San Martín de Los Andes.
10 kilometers of Provincial Route 62 will also be paved, in the area surrounding Lake Lolog and serving as access to connect with the Lanín National Park - of great natural and scenic value - in the section that runs from the end of the current paving in the Rincón Radales area (bordering Laguna Rosales) to Lake Lolog, passing by the Quilquihue River bridge in San Martín de los Andes.
This work is the solution to a double need for the lakeside city, both for tourism and for urban development, since the route connects a large number of urbanizations that today depend on a stretch of mountain gravel road that is unsafe for a high level of traffic like the current one. In terms of tourism, the completion of the pavement will turn this route into a scenic communication route similar to the already traditional Seven Lakes route.
This year, key tourism infrastructure projects were prioritized. Provincial Route 60, at the Mamuil Malal border crossing, is one of them, with a view to strengthening provincial road connectivity, with funding from CAF.
The road to Mamuil Malal offers a typical postcard of the Neuquén landscape, between mountains and araucarias.
A delegation from the international organization traveled through different sections of the route that crosses this impressive natural landscape, together with the authorities of the Provincial Unit for Liaison and Execution of Projects with External Financing (UPEFE) and the Provincial Directorate of Roads, of the Ministry of Infrastructure, who made an exhaustive tour of the routes.
The paving work on this route is a 12-kilometer stretch that is currently gravel, between the access portal to Lanín National Park and the border with the Republic of Chile, through the Mamuil Malal international pass (formerly Tromen) near Junín and San Martín de los Andes.
In this way, with the completion of the asphalt, Neuquén will become the only province in the country to have three fully paved international crossings. Today the province has two trans-Andean communication routes in these conditions, Cardenal Samoré (formerly Puyehue), in Villa La Angostura and Pino Hachado, in the central-western part of the province.
Central West Region
Provincial Route 46 on the Rahue slope, in the Aluminé and Catán Lil departments, was also prioritized - with external financing. This is one of the most beautiful scenic routes in Neuquén that leads to the Aluminé area. The project involves 20 kilometers of paving from the end of the asphalt near the bridge over the Coloco stream to the junction with Provincial Route 24 that leads to Las Coloradas.
The asphalt will add safety to a dangerous sector due to its mountain profile, taking into account that the pavement layout will be the same as the existing route, as it is a safe route, with a low accident rate and a quick snow clearing time according to statistics from the Provincial Road Authority.
Also with funding from CAF, UPEFE together with Vialidad Provincial is executing Provincial Route 23, which connects the Pino Hachado border crossing with Chile and Villa Pehuenia. It runs parallel to National Route 40 and is considered a scenic route with a landscape of araucarias, cliffs and the surroundings of the Litrán and Aluminé rivers.
North Region
In the northern region, key connectivity works are planned on Provincial Route 43 in Las Ovejas. The first stage includes the construction of 13 kilometers between that town and Varvarco. The work is carried out from the end of the intersection, including the construction of the urban avenue.
During the anniversary of Las Ovejas, Governor Rolando Figueroa announced the continuation of the asphalt from there to the La Puntilla viewpoint, in addition to paving the kilometers of gravel between the tourist viewpoint and Varvarco.
On Provincial Route 39, which connects Andacollo and Huinganco, road personnel are carrying out paving works.
Vaca Muerta Region
The layout of routes 7 and 17, which links the urban section in Añelo with the ring road and connects Vaca Muerta, was recently restarted. It is financed by CAF and the Provincial Government. The paving work corresponds to a new 24-kilometer route, linking those provincial routes from the plateau and along the fence.
The objective is to create a complete circuit that allows heavy traffic to be linked to Rincón de los Sauces and Cutral Co, through Provincial Route 17, avoiding circulation in urban areas of Añelo. It is executed by UPEFE, with inspection by the Provincial Directorate of Roads. |
