Work Detail The Lake in the Hills Airport is nearing completion of its taxiway construction project, according to a press release from the village of LITH. This is the last of three phases that started in 2010 at the local airport. When finished, the upgrades are meant to improve traffic flow on the airport''s parallel taxiway and eliminate obstacles that were too close to the existing runway under current Federal Aviation Administration standards, according to village officials. As part of the project, four hangars were relocated and the airport office building was torn down. The airport''s new office is located just across the parking lot and offers much nicer accommodations to guests as well as amenities such as soda and snack vending machines with a great view of the runway, according to the village of LITH press release. The cost for this work is estimated at $2.25 million. Ninety percent of the funding comes from a Federal Aviation Administration grant and 5 percent of the funding comes from a state grant with the remainder coming from revenue generated locally by the airport Crawford, Murphy, and Tilly, Inc. is providing engineering for the project and Maneval Construction is handling the construction.
