Work Detail Cameroon plans to develop its road network. Cameroon is planning to extend its road network significantly by 2027. The plans call for an extra 1,415km of asphalt surfaced roads to be built. This would increase the country’s network of asphalt roads to 11,300km by 2027, compared with 9,885km in 2023. The plan is part of the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 established by the Cameroon Government. To supply the needs of road building for the country, a new asphalt plant capable of producing up to 250,000tonnes of asphalt/year will be commissioned by the Porner Group and EPC. This will be located in Kribi and will cost US$168.6 million. Meanwhile, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will provide nearly 81% of the funding required for the $182.6 million road project that will connect Ngatt, Febadi and Likok. The remainder will be provided by the Cameroon Government. This road section forms part of the Batchenga-Ngaoundéré corridor. Once the 145km route is complete it will provide better transport between Cameroon’s Central Region and Adamaoua Region. And construction is also due to start for the 70km road linking Oveng and Olounou. The road will feature a single lane in either direction and will improve transport links with neighbouring Gabon.
