We received the road network with 36% of the routes in poor condition”
The Minister of Public Works referred to the tender for maintenance work on 1,100 km in sections of 38 provincial routes in the departments of La Capital, Rosario, San Lorenzo, Iriondo, San Jerónimo and Las Colonias.
The Minister of Public Works of the province, Lisandro Enrico, gave a press conference on Tuesday in which he gave details of the works that the Province tendered last week to carry out repairs on 58 sections of 38 provincial routes, simultaneously and independently, in the departments of La Capital, Rosario, San Lorenzo, Iriondo, San Jerónimo and Las Colonias. The tasks, which will cover a total of 1,100 kilometers, have a budget of $3,839,960,476 and a term of execution of 7 months.
The minister stated that “improving the provincial road infrastructure is the main goal of this administration of Governor Maximiliano Pullaro, and also being on top of, working, managing and helping to improve the national road infrastructure that passes through our province, which is about 2,600 kilometers of national routes.”
Enrico recalled that “last week we opened the envelopes for a very important tender, which is the work of road maintenance, something that had not been done for a long time,” and mentioned that “as soon as we took office, the first thing the Provincial Directorate of Roads (DPV) did was to start up seven areas of road repair work, fronts that had been inactive for a long time: two in the north, three in the center and two in the south of the province, which have already repaired a total of more than 1,000 kilometers of provincial roads.”
The event, held in the Auditorium of the Government House in the city of Santa Fe, was also attended by the Administrator of the DPV, Pablo Seghezzo; along with the deputy administrators of the DPV – North Zone, Sergio Cardozo, and South Zone, Benjamín Gianetti.
Road maintenance and safety
The DPV administrator said that “the road infrastructure is a very large asset of the province of Santa Fe, very necessary for all localities, and what must be done at least is to maintain it properly,” and he reviewed that “the first tenders we made were for sealing cracks, it is the basic thing that must be done.” In that sense, he stressed that “during the entire previous administration, unfortunately not a single contract was made for sealing cracks in four years.”
Seghezzo also explained that the maintenance contracts put out to tender “have two alternatives: on the one hand, to carry out maintenance for road safety, to repave and cover the holes”, and added that “we received a network with 36% in poor condition”; and the other part of this tender “is preventive maintenance, works that we have repaved 6 years ago, and logically we have to do some minor treatment, not to cover holes, but to maintain it, and that is what we are doing with this tender”.
