On Friday 5 July, the Solar & Storage Live team journeyed to the Conference & Events Awards at London’s Honourable Artillery Company (HAC), where they received a well-deserved trophy.
Having secured the award for Best Conference / Events Series (2,000 Attendees), we spoke to Rebecca King and Tom Moon, General Manager and Event Director for Solar & Storage Live respectively, about what it took to achieve the win.
Why did Solar & Storage Live receive the award?
Rebecca King: This award is a testament to how much the Solar & Storage Live global series has grown. Looking at the numbers, the series’ success is clear.
We’re proud that, in 2024 alone, the international events will see double the number of exhibitors than last year – taking us to 3,000 exhibitors and 150,000 visitors across 13 global shows!
The growth has been truly incredible to watch, and we’re grateful to our audience of installers, utilities, large energy users, and component manufacturers and distributors.
How did the Solar & Storage Live global series reach these heights?
Tom Moon: Although we now have 13 international shows, rising to over 20 in 2025, Solar & Storage Live began with “The Solar Show Africa” in 2014.
In 2015 we launched the Philippines edition, with Vietnam and the UK following in 2018. From there, the launches kept coming. By the time COVID-19 hit, our portfolio of five shows achieved a total of 760 exhibitors and sponsors and 45,000 registrations.
It was all hands on deck following the pandemic, with 2023 and 2024 bringing seven new shows on board.
Clearly global solar isn’t slowing down any time soon, and nor are we.
What’s next for Solar & Storage Live?
Tom Moon: The series is only on the up. This year already saw the launch of three additional European shows in Zurich, Barcelona, and London, with international shows also debuting in Australia, Cape Town, and the USA.
We’re announcing new launches all the time – most recently next year’s Amsterdam edition – driven by demand and the growing necessity for renewable energy. With an exciting seven launches lined up, we have 20 Solar & Storage Live events on the books for 2025.
Rebecca King: Closer to home, the worldwide Solar & Storage Live team is growing as quickly as the event series. Plenty of new faces in our international offices have only contributed to the buzz. With friends both old and new appearing at every edition of the show, it’s been great to watch the team’s relationship with the international industry grow and bloom over the years – it’s a real credit to their hard work.
Of course, I need to mention Solar&StorageXtra, and not just because I’m talking to you!
We launched Xtra in 2024 as a media outlet for our international sell-side audience. To say it’s been a hit would be an understatement – in its first two weeks Xtra received 3,000 subscribers. Our ambitious target of achieving 20,000 subscribers by the end of 2024 has already been smashed by more than double that amount.
All things considered, it’s safe to say that when the Solar & Storage Live team shoots for the stars, they stick the landing. |
