Work Detail AgRE.tech, which develops a robotic operating system for existing PV infrastructure, has raised $2 million from EDF and Zemach Regional Industries. The company says it will soon launch commercial fields. Israeli startup agRE.tech, which is developing a custom robotic operating system for agrivoltaic projects, said in a recent statement that it has completed a $2 million pre-seed fundraising round. The round was led by French energy giant EDF and Zemach Regional Industries, an agricultural company owned by 27 Israeli kibbutzim. “Over the past year, agRE.tech has been developing an advanced robotic operating system tailored to agrovoltaic areas,” the company says. “This system, integrated into the existing photovoltaic infrastructure, uses artificial intelligence to autonomously perform complex agricultural tasks, such as selective spraying, pruning and harvesting. It also oversees control and maintenance operations of solar fields.” According to the company, its open solutions operating system has led to collaborations with various companies on a range of technological solutions. It is currently in the advanced stages of establishing its first commercial fields in Israel and other countries, including Italy. “We identified climate and agriculture as burgeoning fields where we can contribute to global efforts to address the climate crisis and food security,” said Elad Levy, CEO of agRE.tech. “The convergence of these sectors presents immense potential for technological and business innovation.”
