More than a thousand people will benefit from this project carried out by the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the company Hocol in two rural locations in the department of Sucre.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia (MinEnergía) and the company Hocol, of the Ecopetrol group, have announced the inauguration of two new energy communities, which will benefit more than a thousand people from Canutal and El Palmar, rural locations in the municipality of Ovejas, in the department of Sucre.
According to a ministerial statement, there are now 28 energy communities in existence throughout the country.
The so-called Canutal Energy Community, with some 700 people, involves four photovoltaic solutions, totaling 47.25 kW, located in the school, the health center, the community hall and the aqueduct. The information specifies that the company Hocol made an investment of 730 million pesos (180 thousand dollars).
For its part, the Educational Energy Community of the El Palmar public school in the El Palmar area is based on biogas, with an approximate investment of 116 million pesos (28.6 thousand dollars), managed by the Non-Conventional Energy and Efficient Energy Management Fund (Fenoge); it benefits more than 260 people.
Last June, the Ministry of Energy and the Institute for Planning and Promotion of Energy Solutions (IPSE) delivered three agrovoltaic generation energy communities with diesel support to the indigenous communities of Chatare, Carpintero and Venado, in the department of Guainía.
It should be noted that the aforementioned municipalities are included in the Territorial Development Programs (PDET), an instrument that seeks to promote economic, social and environmental development in areas of the country affected by the internal armed conflict. The PDET covers 36% of Colombian territory and involves almost 7 million people. |
