The Chilean Solar Energy Association (Acesol) has prepared a document outlining five lines of action and proposes also stimulating energy cooperatives.
A document, entitled “Recommendations for the advancement of jointly owned distributed generation and energy cooperatives,” was presented to the Chilean Ministry of Energy and the Energy Sustainability Agency (AgenciaSE) by the Chilean Solar Energy Association (Acesol).
According to the document, it focuses on five axes, “in each of which measures are proposed that allow taking charge of the diagnosis.”
In fact, the work is subtitled “Specific actions for the promotion of community generation facilities and distributed energy cooperatives for the years 2024-2026.”
The five axes mentioned, with their objectives and diagnoses, are:
Electrical Infrastructure :
– Objective: To provide detailed information on distribution networks and their capacity to receive distributed generation injections.
– Diagnosis: Identification of limited tools and lack of certainty about the optimal capacity for distributed generation penetration.
Property Layout :
– Objective: To promote the efficient use of public, municipal and private properties for renewable energy projects.
– Diagnosis: Evaluation of allocated lands and government commitment to increase distributed generation capacity.
Education and Association :
– Objective: To create an ecosystem of associations and cooperativism focused on raising awareness and training in energy issues.
– Diagnosis: Need for more projects and clarity in generation mechanisms under the Joint Ownership modality.
Regulation :
– Objective: Propose improvements to the regulatory framework to strengthen distributed generation.
– Diagnosis: Current economic and regulatory disincentives, as well as limitations in the project connection process.
Equal Access :
– Objective: To identify barriers to the financing, design and installation of distributed generation plants.
– Diagnosis: High investment costs and limitations in public financing alternatives. |
