Work Detail Poland’s SeaRenergy Group has been awarded a Marine Coordination Services contract by Baltic Power, a joint venture between Poland’s Orlen Group and Canada’s Northland Power, for the construction phase of the 1.2 GW offshore wind project. SeaRenergy’s Marine Coordination Service includes ship registration, personnel registration, check-in, inspection, and construction site monitoring based on vessel traffic management and maritime surveillance systems provided by long-term partner Vissim AS. The services are planned to commence with the preparatory phase in the summer to ensure a smooth operational commencement in the last quarter of 2024. The company’s team of marine coordinators will be based in Leba at the site office, with the primary responsibility to monitor and coordinate ship movements, and to facilitate communication with vessels at the offshore construction site. In 2022, the Baltic Power joint venture signed a deal to lease a Port of Leba site to build an operations and maintenance (O&M) base that will serve the 1.2 GW offshore wind farm. The offshore wind project will be built approximately 22 kilometres off the Polish coast near Plaza Wydmy Lubiatowskie. Baltic Power will be one of the first European offshore wind projects to use Vestas’ new 15 MW wind turbine, which until now has only been installed as a prototype at the Østerild National test centre in Western Jutland, Denmark. The wind farm will feature 76 Vestas V236-15.0 MW wind turbines. Denmark’s Port of Roenne was selected as the installation port for the Polish offshore wind project. Scheduled to commence operations in late 2026, Baltic Power is expected to deliver renewable energy to over 1.5 million Polish households.
