Vietnam opens energy market to bilateral PPAs
The Vietnamese government has this week published new rules allowing direct power purchase agreements (DPPAs) between independent power producers (IPPs) and energy consumers, according to state media. IPPs will now be able to sell power to end customers via the national grid or direct connection lines.
India launches several green hydrogen tenders
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals has started accepting bids to build, own and operate a green hydrogen plant that will supply 10 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) of green hydrogen. It says it will sign a 25-year gas purchase agreement with the successful bidder.
South Africa imposes 10% tariff on solar panel imports
South Africa’s International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) has imposed a 10% tariff on solar panel imports to protect local manufacturers, attract investment and go deeper into the value chain. The South African Photovoltaic Industry Association has questioned the lack of formal commitment from the industry, calling the timing “not ideal”.
UK solar capacity surpasses 16GW mark

Germany records highest hourly electricity price in history
Spanish consultancy AleaSoft Energy Forecasting states that Germany recorded 2,325.83 euros (2,502.41 dollars)/MWh on June 26, the highest hourly electricity price in its history. The country also broke its historical record for daily solar production on June 25, with 433 GWh.
