BPCE Energeco and Banque Populaire Val de France have announced the provision of 23-year bank financing for the construction of a 29 MWc photovoltaic aviary at a pheasant farm in Loury, Loiret department (45). This innovative project will replace the farm’s old aviary, which consisted of nets supported by wooden masts, spanning over 40 hectares. The new aviary will feature a combination of photovoltaic panels and nets, securely fixed to the structures supporting the panels.
The Loury site will host this state-of-the-art photovoltaic aviary, which offers several advantages. According to Unite, the new structure is highly resilient to strong winds, effectively preventing the intrusion of migratory birds that may carry diseases. Additionally, the shaded areas created under the photovoltaic panels will improve animal comfort during the summer months.
Scheduled for commissioning in the summer of 2025, the aviary will have an annual production capacity of approximately 32 GWh. The owner-operator of the Loury breeding farm will receive rent for at least 30 years. Stéphane Maureau, Managing Director of Unite, emphasized, “Not only do the photovoltaic panels not harm the breeding activity, but they strengthen it through useful services and regular, secure income.” |
