The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, confirmed the operational success of the Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan, ahead of the 79th Independence Day celebrations. This milestone was announced during a site inspection with Deputy Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, BUMN Ministry Secretary Rabin Indrajad Hattari, and PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo on Saturday (29/6).
“Today, we can see that this PLTS is fully operational, producing 10 megawatts of power while the current demand for IKN is only 1 megawatt,” stated Minister Erick Thohir.
He emphasized the importance for PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara) to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply not only for the Independence Day ceremony venue but also to safeguard Kalimantan’s interconnected electricity network.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo confirmed PLN’s readiness to supply clean and reliable electricity for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in IKN. The PLTS in IKN has been generating 10 MW since February 2024, with plans to increase capacity to 50 MW by the end of the year.
“We assure that this year’s Independence Day celebration will be powered by green electricity from the IKN PLTS,” affirmed Darmawan.
To ensure uninterrupted power during the celebrations, PLN has implemented a robust four-layered electrical scheme across key locations including Beranda Nusantara, Central Government Core Area Offices, the Airport, and VVIP/VIP Lodging. This scheme includes Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), dual electricity networks from separate substations, and backup generators.
“In support of electric vehicle usage during the festivities, PLN has prepared 16 public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) and special SPKLU for shuttle buses, collaborating with Bluebird,” Darmawan added.
“We are fully committed to ensuring the success of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day celebration in IKN through comprehensive clean energy solutions,” he concluded. |
