Work Detail Dubai’s logistics sector takes a significant step towards sustainability as X-NOOR, a joint venture between global solar leader X-ELIO and GCC infrastructure giant DUTCO, announces a 20-year agreement with Modern Freight Company (MFC). The partnership aims to provide renewable energy to MFC’s Logistics Park and Logistics Center in Dubai. The collaboration emphasizes both companies’ commitment to a greener future, with a rooftop solar PV installation projected to produce approximately 18 GWh of energy over two decades. This installation will enable the warehouse to operate on 100% renewable energy, significantly reducing CO2 emissions compared to traditional energy sources. X-NOOR, an innovative solar developer with offices in Riyadh, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, and ongoing operations in Oman and Bahrain, is dedicated to implementing sustainable solutions that harness the region’s abundant solar power. The company ensures the highest international and regional standards in its projects. Founded in 1977, MFC is one of the UAE’s most trusted logistics companies, excelling in warehousing, international freight forwarding, and customs clearance. Located strategically next to Jebel Ali port berths, MFC’s warehouses offer both convenience and top-tier sustainability standards. MFC has received multiple awards for its sustainability efforts, including the Sustainable 3PL Logistics Company of the Year 2022 at the Freightweek Sustainability Awards and the CSR/Sustainability Initiatives Provider of the Year 2022 at the Landmarks in Logistics Awards. Jesus Gutierrez, General Manager of X-NOOR, expressed excitement about the expansion: “We are thrilled to expand our operations and bring our innovative solar solutions to more projects across the region. We look forward to forging new partnerships and contributing to the region’s renewable energy goals with the same passion and dedication that has driven our success in the Middle East.” Laurance Langdon, General Manager of Modern Freight Company, highlighted the importance of the partnership: “At MFC, we recognize the importance of adopting sustainable and environmentally friendly business practices. The partnership with X-NOOR will allow us to utilize their expertise to maximize the generation of clean energy, ensuring we continue to minimize our carbon footprint and offer a net-zero facility for our customers.” This new project underscores the shared commitment of X-NOOR and MFC to lead the way towards a more sustainable future in Dubai’s logistics industry.
