Work Detail TAFE Motors and Tractors Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of TAFE (Tractors & Farm Equipment Ltd), has entered into an agreement with Germany’s Deutz AG, a manufacturer of internal combustion engines, to jointly produce engines for tractors, industrial applications, and generators. This partnership marks Deutz AGs expansion into the Indian market. Under the agreement, TAFE Motors will manufacture up to 30,000 Deutz engines annually, ranging from 2.2L (50-75 hp) to 2.9L (75-100 hp), to enhance the Group’s diverse engine offerings across various emission standards. The engines will be produced at TAFE Motors’ manufacturing facility in Alwar, Rajasthan, which currently manufactures diesel engines and gensets in the 5 to 125 kVA range, marketed as Eicher Engines (up to 45 kVA) and TMTL Engines (62.5 kVA and above). “This strategic cooperation between TAFE Motors and Deutz will be mutually beneficial, offering access to shared resources and technologies to produce engines that complement TAFE Motors’ and the Group’s existing range to meet demand for both domestic and international markets,” said Sandeep Sinha, CEO of TAFE Motors. Deutz will leverage the Indian manufacturing base to promote its engines in neighboring markets, particularly the Asia Pacific region, benefiting from cost advantages in production and logistics. “The strategic cooperation with TAFE Motors secures Deutz access and long-term prospects in growing markets with great potential for our smaller combustion engines. It also enables us to continue producing at competitive costs in the future and makes us less dependent on the existing supplier landscape,” said Sebastian C. Schulte, CEO of Deutz. This collaboration will enable Deutz to access high-quality engines at competitive costs for new applications in India and relevant overseas markets.
