Work Detail JSW Steel and JFE Steel Corporation have initiated a pilot demonstration of cloud-based Cyber-Physical System (CPS) technologies for blast furnace operations at JSW Steel Vijayanagar Works. Through this collaboration, JSW Steel aims to utilize advanced data science technologies within a cloud environment to optimize the efficiency of its blast furnace operations in steel manufacturing. JFE Steel will provide its proprietary CPS capability to JSW Steel through a cloud-based platform, marking a pioneering initiative in their strategic partnership. The two companies plan to deepen their collaboration with future digital initiatives aimed at enhancing steel production processes at JSW Steel facilities. JFE Steel intends to expand these solution-based services globally. Gajraj Singh Rathore, COO – Manufacturing of JSW Steel, emphasized that this technological intervention will bolster blast furnace efficiency, positioning JSW Steel as a leader in deploying data science technology within the global steel sector. JSW Steel and JFE Steel will jointly oversee the implementation of the Blast Furnace Cyber-Physical System (BF-CPS) at JSW Steel Vijayanagar Works. This system will enable real-time visualization and predictive analytics for blast furnace operations, enhancing operational agility and stability. It includes models for hot metal temperature control and prediction of process abnormalities. Implementation of BF-CPS is expected to minimize operational disruptions, leading to more agile and stable blast furnace operations. Furthermore, it is anticipated to contribute to reduced CO2 emissions from blast furnace operations, aligning with environmental sustainability goals. JFE Steel has successfully implemented similar technologies across its own blast furnaces, achieving high efficiency and operational stability. Since 2009, JSW Steel and JFE Steel have strengthened their collaboration through capital investments and the exchange of technical solutions, including automotive steels, electrical steels, and environmental measures. JFE Steel anticipates increased productivity and operational stability through proactive digital transformation initiatives.
