Work Detail Assets in Cadiz will have a total installed capacity of 37MW when they enter production in Q2 2025 Engie has begun the construction of two wind farms in Cadiz, southern Spain, with a total installed capacity of 37MW. Both sites are expected to enter into operation during the second quarter of 2025. Located in the town of Los Barrios, the Cerro Cabello and El Patron wind farms will help create between 140 and 200 direct jobs. Both projects incorporate strict biodiversity protection measures, including access roads and firebreaks, to guarantee sustainable and environmentally friendly development. This approach is aligned with the companys “commitment that the decisions and solutions adopted contribute to maintaining the balance of ecosystems to ensure the resilience of the environment to climate change”. Both plants are in addition to Engies renewable energy portfolio, which already has an installed capacity of around 1700MW of renewable assets in Spain including wind farms, solar and mini-hydro plants. The company continues to strengthen its commitment to Andalusia, where it also has the Meridion solar park in the Seville town of Huevar Del Aljarafe, with a total installed capacity of 72MW. Loreto Ordonez, CEO of Engie in Spain, said: "At Engie, we are committed to leading the energy transition through innovative projects that not only reduce carbon emissions, but also boost the economic and social development of local communities. “The construction of these two new wind farms in Cadiz exemplifies our vision, commitment and dedication to transform the way energy is sourced and managed, thus reinforcing our continued commitment to Andalusia. “Our investment in renewable energy is tangible proof that it is possible to create a more sustainable and prosperous future for all. “It is essential to accelerate the development of this type of project and to work closely with administrations, local communities and society as a whole to meet the ambitious and urgent commitments of the energy transition.”
