Lålax project will comprise four 6.2MW turbines Swiss energy supplier Axpo has made the final investment decision to commence construction of the 25MW Lålax wind farm in Finland’s Vörå municipality. Axpo took over the project rights for the site in October 2023 and has now given the go-ahead for further investment in the project. The company plans to start pre-construction work later this year. Construction of the four wind turbines will follow in late summer 2025. Each will have an output of 6.2MW and a hub height of 134 metres. Contracts have already been signed with the turbine manufacturer Vestas and Axpo plans to commission the 24.8MW wind farm in autumn 2025. Following completion, it will produce around 70GWh of renewable electricity a year, which corresponds to the electricity needs of around 17,500 four-person households. The project will be managed from Axpos office in Vaasa, around 25km from the site. Axpo’s head of wind activities in Finland Joakim Ingves, said: The location of the new wind project is ideal for us. My team will be responsible for overseeing the development, and from Vaasa we can manage the construction at close quarters to ensure it is completed on time. This significant project will bring many benefits to the region, including the creation of jobs. |
