Work Detail The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) and the Ministry of Transportation have signed the Completion Certificate for the fourth Pacific Connection Highway Generation 3 project. The project includes 46 km of road improvements between La Felisa and La Pintada, featuring a significant intersection connecting Supía and Ríosucio, 25 bridges, 11 km of overtaking lanes, and 85 slope interventions. With a US$2.7 billion investment, it spans 146 km, linking 18 municipalities in Antioquia, Caldas, and Risaralda, and includes two tunnels (Irra and Tesalia). Benefiting over 600,000 residents, it enhances connectivity to the Port of Buenaventura, boosting international trade. Pacífico 3 is part of the fourth generation of road concessions, comprising five functional units. The commissioning of the 3.5 km Tesalia Tunnel has cut travel time by 35-40 minutes, enhancing mobility between Caldas, Risaralda, and Antioquia. This bidirectional tunnel connects the El Cairo village in Risaralda (Caldas) to the La Libertad village in San José. Part of UF2, the project also includes the Fortunato Gaviria Bridge (230 m), the Tesalia Bypass, and three minor bridges (100 m each). Additionally, the 450-m Irra Tunnel, between Tres Puertas and Felisa (Caldas), has become crucial for cargo transport, reducing travel time and operating costs.
