Work Detail Production set to start at Cuxhaven facility in 2025 The Titan Group has made the final investment decision to build a production facility for XXXL monopiles in Cuxhaven, Northern Germany. Up to €300m will be put into the project, with production ramp up in 2025. Monopiles with a diameter of up to 14 metres, a length of 140 metres and a weight of 3500 tons will be produced to achieve the international offshore wind expansion targets, said the company. It added more than 600 jobs will be created, with the new Titan Wind Energy production facility among the most advanced in the world. The factory will have an annual production capacity more than 500,000 tonnes and supply the offshore wind markets in the North Sea, Baltic Sea and the US. The construction of the new plant will begin in mid-2024. It includes two halls for welding and coating as well as the preparation of the floors for the heavy loads required in monopile production. The construction of a storage area of 320,000 square metres has been started. The necessary prerequisites for the Titan Group’s plans are the good port conditions and the required space, which is ideal not only to produce monopiles, but also for their storage and logistics. “Titan is determined to be part of the solution to achieve the global net zero target,” said Titan Group founder and chief executive Junxu Yan. “Today’s investment decision for Titan Wind Energy GmbH in Cuxhaven is an important step in our long-term global offshore wind expansion strategy. “Offshore wind energy faces the challenge of limited supply chain capacity. In cooperation with our future customers, we are setting the course for achieving current targets.” Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Stefan Wenzel added: “The investment decision for Titan Wind Energy GmbH in Cuxhaven is important to increase the urgently needed production capacities for the offshore wind industry in Germany and Europe and at the same time an essential step for the industrial transformation in Germany. “Offshore wind energy is a key technology for the energy transition.” Lower Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs Olaf Lies said: “A few weeks ago, we were able to finalize the financing of the new offshore berths together with the federal government. “This is now the next step, which above all shows that transformation and the energy turnaround not only mean an independent, clean and permanently affordable energy supply. “They also mean new, good jobs. “Here in the north, we are developing our ports into the new heart of clean energy supply of Germany. “The North Sea will be our powerhouse with Cuxhaven in a central position.” City of Cuxhaven Lord Mayor Uwe Santjer added: “The €300m investment and the creation of numerous jobs will significantly strengthen the position of the German Offshore Industry Center in Cuxhaven. “Cuxhaven will strengthen its international function, especially as a production location. In addition, synergy effects will result as a marshalling harbor and further position (it) as a European offshore hub in the market. “We look forward to working with Titan Wind.”
