Work Detail Sotipapier, the Tunisian supplier of corrugated base paper and kraft sack paper, has just completed the acquisition of a stake in the recycling company Eco-Gad, based in the Tunisian town of Sidi Hassine. With a 70% stake, Sotipapier thus becomes Eco-Gads majority shareholder. After 16 years in business, the Tunisian recycling company Eco-Gad is opening up to new prospects with the entry into its capital of a new shareholder. The new shareholder is its colleague Sotipapier, which specialises in the manufacture of corrugated paper and kraft paper for bags. Sotipapier has just acquired a 70% stake in the company, based in the Tunisian town of Sidi Hassine. “We are very enthusiastic about the idea of sharing all the know-how we have acquired over the last 16 years, which, with the help of our new partner, will enable us to continue our expansion in Tunisia by opening new sorting centres, and to consider going international,” says Eco-Gad, which is also at the forefront of the collection and processing of paper, cardboard and plastic waste. Eco-Gad currently has six collection and processing centres for this type of waste, spread across North Africa, notably in the cities of Bizerte, Tunis, Sousse and Sfax. These are B2B solutions for the commercial, industrial, agri-food, catering, hotel and administrative sectors. Consolidating the recycled cardboard supply chain in Tunisia Through its subsidiary Colibris, the company founded by Abdelkader Elmissaoui has also developed and marketed an innovative application that facilitates the collection of recyclable waste and promotes its responsible management within companies. In addition to optimising Eco-Gad’s facilities and therefore its recycling activities, the arrival of a new shareholder in the company should also consolidate the supply chain for recycled cardboard paper in Tunisia and enhance Sotipapier’s offering of greener products. “This acquisition aligns perfectly with our strategic vision of becoming a pillar of environmental sustainability in the North African sub-region. By integrating Eco-Gad’s expertise and know-how, we will strengthen our recycling infrastructure and reduce our dependence on fluctuating paper and board prices, thereby strengthening our economic resilience,” says Sotipapier.
