Blaze Manufacturing Solutions, a Scotland-based fire safety system provider to the global energy industry, has signed a contract with Ørsted for nine North Sea offshore wind farms.
The contract, signed earlier this year, covers fire protection and detection on Ørsted’s offshore wind farms, including Hornsea 1 and Hornsea 2 in the UK, for the next five years. The integrated maintenance contract includes the provision of inert gas systems, compressed air foam, water mist and all detection including control systems.
Blaze, a Balmoral Group company, told offshoreWIND.biz that apart from the latest contract with Ørsted, it was currently providing fire protection systems for the rectifier platforms on five offshore wind projects, one in the UK and the other four in Europe. The company did not disclose the names of these projects and clients.
In a press release issued on 11 June, Blaze revealed a year-on-year growth of nearly 100 per cent, saying the growth was driven by its transition strategy focused on sector diversification and global expansion.
In the past year, the company has secured projects in both Europe and the Middle East, with 70 per cent of intake in the renewable energy sector.
This has also resulted in a 20 per cent increase in headcount at Blaze’s headquarters in Laurencekirk, according to the fire safety system provider.
