Work Detail Rensource Energy, Africa’s fastest-growing renewable energy company, in collaboration with Green Fuels, has commenced the construction of a 4.7MWp Solar PV Gas Hybrid system for Valentine Chickens in Kwara State, Nigeria. Scheduled for completion in Q3 2024, this innovative project will generate 2.52GWh annually and offset 16,260 metric tonnes of CO2 over its lifetime. The system aims to optimize energy efficiency and reliability by directly powering the facility’s operations with the PV array. During daylight hours, the solar PV system will supply electricity, reducing reliance on gas generators and offering a cleaner, more affordable energy source. Under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Valentine Chickens, Rensource will provide electricity through an Independent Power Producers (IPP) arrangement, allowing the company to generate energy independently of the local utility provider. The hybrid system includes a total PV capacity of 1.7MWp from decentralized roof-mounted solar panels, a 1.5MW PV inverter system, and 3MW of installed gas generators. This configuration will be deployed across Valentine Chickens’ 12 sites, powering all their farms and facilities through a decentralized Solar PV system and a centralized gas-powered electrical power line, thereby minimizing the use of diesel generators. Prince Ojeabulu, CEO of Rensource Energy, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with Green Fuels Limited on this groundbreaking 4.7MWp Solar PV Gas Hybrid System for Valentine Chickens. This project will provide Valentine Chickens with a cleaner, more reliable, and cost-effective power source compared to diesel. As a company committed to delivering top-tier clean energy solutions to accelerate the energy transition and productivity growth of commercial and industrial clients, we are excited to see this vision becoming a reality. We look forward to providing more innovative solar energy solutions for businesses across Africa.” Dheerendra Singh Chauhan, Executive Director of Green Fuels Limited, also shared his positive outlook, stating, “This project marks a significant milestone for both companies. Developing a hybrid power solution that is both economical and environmentally friendly contributes to the sustainable development goals. This achievement will be considered a landmark in our efforts towards sustainability.”
