The Government of Guyana has opened a tender for the supply and delivery of solar equipment and solar installations for 21 public and community buildings.
The tender has eight lots: multimodal inverters, photovoltaic modules, valve regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries, lithium battery storage systems, solar panel roof mounting hardware, system balancing equipment, electrical conduits , accessories and electrical equipment.
The technical specifications of each lot are available in full in the tender document . Bidders may submit bids for individual lots or combinations of lots. All bidders must submit their bids by mail by June 18. The required supply period is 90 days from the signing of the contract.
The bidding document says that the project is aimed at reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels and reducing the companys electricity consumption, in pursuit of reducing CO2 emissions.
The electricity from the photovoltaic installations will be used for internal consumption and battery recharging, according to the specifications. The project will also “demonstrate the applicability of the operation of photovoltaic systems with energy storage and their energy contribution to Guyana.”
Guyana had 8 MW of installed solar capacity by the end of 2023, according to figures from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). |
