The Colombian energy company of Grupo Argos, Celsia, has announced the inauguration of a 2.2 MWp plant built in alliance with the dairy company Alpina for its production headquarters located in the municipality of Sopó, department of Cundinamarca.
According to a statement, it is explained that the plant was designed by Celsia, which also made the investment in the project, built it and will operate the farm for the next decade, during which time Alpina “will pay it a competitive rate for the solar energy consumed.” .
Its construction began in 2023, and, in combination with the existing biogas plant, it will supply 50% of the electrical demand of this headquarters, which “is equivalent to more than 20% of the electricity consumed by Alpina nationwide” , it is stated.
According to the top executive of Celsia, Ricardo Sierra, “the Alpina solar farm was developed through the Laurel platform, an alliance of Celsia and Bancolombia Capital to finance and encourage the development of this type of business projects in Colombia, and with which there are currently 40 MW in solar projects.”
“In 2017 we put the first solar farm in the country into operation and today the company participates with about 34% of the national solar generation,” said Sierra.
While Alpina announces that it plans to install another solar plant at the end of 2024 in its distribution center in the town of Galapa, department of Atlántico, Celsia reports that with the project now inaugurated, the installed solar generation will exceed 400 MWp for its clients, between farms, roofs and floors, in Colombia. |
