Work Detail Aberdeen-based company Sealand Projects has completed a factory acceptance test (FAT) for the ZOEX Power wave energy device in Forres, Scotland. The wave energy device was tested at AJ Engineering and Construction services facility on June 5, 2024. After painting the ZOEX unit and adding the buoyancy floats, it is set to go to Port of Aberdeen South Harbour for wet trials. After two years of engineering and work, Sealand is nearing the deployment of its system in the water. According to Sealand Projects, the launch of the ZOEX Power wave energy device is to take place on June 27, 2024. According to Sealand Projects, the ZOEX Power is an attachable wave energy converter device that offers a clean energy solution for marine platforms, vessels, and other marine structures. The wave energy converter can be an affordable and dependable provider of energy, and can generate energy even in relatively calm seas, as low as half a meter, said Sealand Projects. The ZOEX Power wave energy device project is supported by Scottish Sea Farms and Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Centre. Marine energy has a vital role in the UK’s net zero journey. The Orkney-based European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) recently outlined a set of manifesto asks for the July 4, 2024, general election to unlock green growth opportunities in ocean energy arenas in the UK waters. The manifesto asks have been designed to cover areas enabling Britain to unleash its full renewable and marine energy potential, lending a helping hand on the UK’s journey to net zero.
