Work Detail South Korean company SK ecoplant and its subsidiary SK oceanplant have entered into an agreement with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for the production, transportation and installation of floating foundations for CIP’s 1.5 GW floating wind project off the city of Ulsan. Under the agreement, the two supply chain companies will deliver the floaters through a synergistic approach with SK ecoplant transporting and installing the floating foundations manufactured by SK oceanplant. SK oceanplant is currently building a new production facility specialised in offshore wind structures in Goseong, Gangwon Province, which is planned to be completed by the end of 2026. The new production base, measuring 1.57 million square meters, will have the capacity to produce both jacket and floating foundations, as well as offshore substations. CIP’s floating wind project off the eastern coast of Ulsan, called Haewoori, consists of three sites with a total capacity of 1.5 GW. The developer has already secured Electric Business Licenses (EBLs) for all three wind farms making up the Haewoori project. The project company established by CIP and Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), Haewoori Offshore Wind, submitted the final environmental impact assessment (EIA) report to the relevant authorities in December 2023. According to information on the project’s website, the 1.5 GW Haewoori is planned to reach financial close next year and be operational by 2028.
