Zubr Capital Fund I (ZCFI) private equity fund is actively developing a portfolio of promising Belarusian companies and hopes to announce the first transaction soon, Oleg Khusaenov, the CEO of Zubr Capital, said in a press conference at BelTA''s press center on 5 September. “Active work is underway. To date, we have analyzed about 700 companies, have visited more than 100 of them and shortlisted the most interesting ones in terms of investment. We hope that by the end of this year we will announce the first ZCFI transaction,” Oleg Khusaenov said. Zubr Capital Fund I is $50 million. Its anchor investors are the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Wargaming Company. ZCFI will be focused on fast-growing companies in the IT sector (IT outsourcing, games, innovations, e-commerce), consumer goods (food, packaging, household chemical goods, apparel, furniture, household services, fast food, etc.), and retail. “Raising $50 million was not easy. For our team, this is not the ultimate goal but rather the starting point. We face a new challenge: to find, invest and develop 6 to 8 Belarusian companies. I am sure that in a joint dialogue between owners and investors, we will be able to bring each portfolio company to ‘the Olympic gold podium'' within 5 to 7 years,” Oleg Khusaenov said. The new fund will be an important player in the private equity market, said Alexander Yevseichik, the leading banker at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The Fund will provide support to private business in Belarus. Thus, Belarusian companies will get access to financing opportunities and learn modern financial skills and techniques needed to successfully compete domestically and on international markets. |
