Work Detail Japans Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications says that since 2021 it has received 44 reports of unwanted radio wave emissions from solar power systems, including interference with defense facilities and emergency wireless equipment. The ministry warns that photovoltaic systems can be removed by law if they continue to cause problems. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan has notified the Japan Electrical Manufacturers Association and the Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) of the existence of unwanted radio waves from solar generation systems that cause failures in wireless communications. The Ministry noted in a letter that 44 cases have been recorded since 2021, mainly attributed to large-scale solar plants, although not exclusively to them. He noted that solar generation systems have been interfering with local government digital radio systems used for disaster prevention, fire response services and emergency communications. The letter offers suggestions to reduce the impact on wireless communications, such as using noise filters to reduce interference, and calls for promoting new construction methods. The Ministry also warned that solar projects that continue to interfere with radio equipment could be withdrawn by law. It said it plans to integrate International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards on unwanted radio wave emissions from solar generation systems into Japans projects. Authorities in the Netherlands and Sweden reported similar cases in 2023 and 2021, respectively.
