Work Detail The Chilean microenterprise Codorniz Deleitte, located in La Serena within the Coquimbo region, has successfully covered its electricity consumption through a photovoltaic system financed by the Ponle Energía a Tu Pyme program. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Energy and executed by the Sustainability Agency Energetics, aims to support small businesses in adopting renewable energy solutions. The photovoltaic system installed at Codorniz Deleitte comprises six solar panels with a total capacity of 3.2 kW, developed by the company Enersu. This system enables the microenterprise to save approximately 1,750 kWh annually. The project required an investment of 7.3 million pesos (about 8,100 dollars). During a visit to the facility, María Castillo Rojas, the Seremi of Energy for Coquimbo, highlighted the benefits of the project. “She is an entrepreneur in egg production who has benefited from an energy efficiency and renewable energy project, which has allowed her significant savings on her electricity bills and contributed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” Rojas stated. Rojas also noted that the program aims to leverage the net billing law, enabling participants to become energy generators for the grid and receive discounts on their energy bills. Jenny Gahona, the beneficiary of the program and the owner of Codorniz Deleitte, shared her experience. “Codorniz Deleitte is a hatchery with 20 years of experience. We use a lot of electrical energy for the incubation processes to provide the best welfare for our birds, and that motivated us to apply to reduce energy costs,” Gahona said. She added that the system not only allows for energy savings but also provides backup power during outages, ensuring continuous operations. The Ponle Energía a Tu Pyme program has made significant contributions to the Coquimbo Region, distributing nearly 326 million pesos (about 3.6 million dollars) to finance 29 energy solutions. These solutions include renewable energy systems and energy efficiency measures, benefiting companies and microenterprises across various sectors such as agriculture, tourism, hospitality, communication, industry, and commerce.
