National Roads will advance with the construction of the second Chaco – Corrientes bridge over the Paraná River
After the approval of financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to carry out the first phase of the project, a date was set for public hearings to be held by part of the local government in the province of Chaco.
The Ministry of Public Works of the Nation, through National Roads, informs that, based on the financing approved by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Territorial Development of the province of Chaco will carry out the hearings public with the objective of completing the necessary procedure to carry out the construction of the second Chaco – Corrientes bridge over the Paraná River. The objective of the work is to strengthen connectivity between the provinces, decongest coastal cities from heavy traffic and optimize the circulation of the Northern Bioceanic Corridor.
The two hearings necessary to finalize the project will be held in Chaco: one corresponding to the “Variant work of passage through the city of Resistencia – RN 11 Beltway” and another for the “Physical connection work between Chaco and Corrientes, RN 11 Km 998, 2nd Chaco-Corrientes Bridge”. Both will take place on Tuesday, December 5 at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively, in person at the facilities of the Provincial Highway Directorate, located at 25 de Mayo Avenue 2398 in the city of Resistencia.
Those who wish to participate in these spaces can register from the National Highway website or in person at the offices of the 18th District Chaco (Avenida Italia 191, Resistencia, Chaco) from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. hours.
The project includes the construction of a new bridge 772 meters long and 25.7 meters wide that will link the cities of Resistencia and Corrientes over the Paraná River, with access viaducts that reach a total of 5.6 kilometers and 28, 2 kilometers of highway that will link to national routes 11 and 12. In this way, 88,000 users will benefit who will circulate daily through the new infrastructure.
In this sense, the general administrator of National Roads, Gustavo Arrieta, stated: “The second Chaco – Corrientes bridge is transcendental for the social and economic development of the Argentine Northeast. Its completion will be key for urban connectivity and regional logistics, as it will become a great alternative to the General Manuel Belgrano bridge.” "We are in the prelude to a work that, in line with the management that we maintain with the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, will be an extraordinary platform for the production and generation of employment that Argentina needs in the coming years," added the official.
Regarding IDB financing, the international financial entity approved a Credit Line for Investment Projects (CCLIP) of US$ 700 million and a first individual loan of US$ 345 million that will finance the first phase of the construction of the work. its supervision and socio-environmental mitigation actions. It will also support institutional strengthening actions, such as diagnosis, structuring and equipment for the management and maintenance system of large bridges in the National Road Network. Likewise, it provides for the design of the operation scheme for the bridges and access networks between Resistencia and Corrientes, the design and implementation of resilient territorial road planning and the promotion of sustainable urban mobility.
