The company has just obtained environmental authorization for the Quinquimo Solar photovoltaic project, in the communes of La Ligua and Papudo. which represents an investment of 85 million dollars. Uriel Renovables, a Spanish renewable energy company, has obtained a Favorable Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) for the first of the four projects that its subsidiary Uriel Renovables Chile is developing in the country: Quinquimo Solar. The project involves an investment of 85 million dollars for its construction, with a total power of 90 MW and an injection capacity of 65 MW to the Chilean National Electric System (SEN). Quinquimo Solar occupies an area of ??150 hectares and has a 110 kV high voltage line of almost 11 km from the generation area to the Quinquimo substation. The solar panel mounting structures will include trackers to optimize efficiency and a 200 MWh battery storage system (50 MW x 4 hr) for night injection. The next steps for Quinquimo Solar include obtaining sector permits, closing evacuation line easements, administrative permits and project financing. Construction is expected to begin in 2025, with the objective of beginning the generation and injection of energy to the SEN at the end of 2026 and maintaining operation for 35 years. The project will be located 150 km north of Santiago de Chile, in the communes of La Ligua and Papudo – Petorca Province, Valparaíso Region. According to Uriel Renovables, “it benefits from an ideal location for photovoltaic projects due to its high solar radiation and proximity to consumption centers, which stabilizes the Spot price compared to other areas of the country.” In addition to Quinquimo Solar, Uriel Renovables Chile is developing three other photovoltaic projects in the Valparaíso region: Ritoque Solar (90 MWac), Cabildo Solar (50 MWac) and Casas Viejas Solar (105 MWac), all in the process of environmental evaluation and are It is expected that they will obtain their favorable RCA in the first quarter of 2025.
